Live Love was founded in 2018 as a social investment arm to connect international live acts with worthwhile local causes, creating better awareness about these organisations and helping them in their efforts to make a sustainable difference in South Africa.

Through the promotion and staging of world-class live music concerts, we aim to generate as much funding as possible for the direct benefit of local communities and worthy causes in South Africa. Live Love is registered as a standalone non-profit company.

NGOs We Have Previously Worked With
Our goal is to support community projects and NGOs by raising funds through our live music concerts, with the aim to improve the lives of millions of African people. Live Love collaborates with touring artists to identify causes that personally resonate with them as well as charities they are already supporting.

Our support pillars, and the NGOs that currently fall under them, are:

  • SOCIAL CHANGE THROUGH SPORT
  • ENVIRONMENTAL CAUSES
  • SOCIAL CHANGE THROUGH MUSIC EDUCATION

1) WAVES FOR CHANGE

“Changing lives, one wave at a time.”

Waves For Change (W4C) is a multi-award winning surf therapy organisation that provides a child-friendly mental health service to at-risk and differently abled youth living in unstable communities.

W4C combines surfing with evidence-based therapy sessions to alleviate symptoms of trauma with additional benefits to behaviour and school attachment. Led by surfers and mental health professionals, in partnership with township communities, the programme provides access to safe spaces and caring local mentors and daily surf therapy sessions. W4C now reaches over 1 000 young people per week across South Africa.

OUR IMPACT

Through Live Love, Incubus and W4C curated incredible surf experiences and items (including a Donald Brink original surfboard signed by the band) that was auctioned in July 2018 with a special handover at The Vans US Surf Open in Huntington, the world’s largest surf competition and lifestyle festival. The experience included meeting some of the world’s biggest pro surfers at the event, such as Mickey February and the Gudauskas Brothers.

All proceeds from the auction went to the Waves For Change organisation in South Africa.

“We’re so stoked to be working with Live Love – amplifying the power of surf therapy to the world of music and entertainment.” TIM CONIBEAR – WAVES FOR CHANGE FOUNDER

2) PILANESBERG WILDLIFE TRUST

The Pilanesberg Wildlife Trust (PWT) focusses on conservation and social upliftment. The birth rate of rhino per annum will soon be less than the number of rhinos poached each year, unless drastic measures are taken, making rhino protection the PWT’s primary conservation project in the Pilanesberg.

OUR IMAPCT

Incubus joined PWT for a capture and relocation of a rhino in the Pilanesberg. The band accompanied vets, ground crew and helicopters to locate and capture animals for “notching”, offering an inside look at the challenges faced by South Africa’s conservationists, anti-poaching units and wildlife vets. They took the experience to their global fan base through their digital networks, raising (ongoing) critical awareness for this highly endangered species.

Live Love donated R150 000 to the Pilanesberg Wildlife Trust.

“I have the utmost respect and admiration for these humans that are literally putting their lives on the line for the protection of these majestic creatures.” BRANDON BOYD – INCUBUS
